Universal Street Art

Each place is unique in some particular way. Some places are famous for their architecture, others for their art, many others for their marvelous food, some more for their friendly people, and others for their wonderful weather.

But talking about street art, the graffiti has a universal feeling in most places. I am not saying that it is the same. What I am trying to say is that graffiti shares some kind of worldwide language, feeling, or message in many places.

That's what I was thinking when I took these pictures in the city of Puebla in Mexico. The street art there is quite similar to the graffiti in Los Angeles or Barcelona. All of them have some element shared by others in far away places.

Cada lugar es único en alguna particular forma. Algunos lugares son famosos for su arquitectura, otros for su arte, muchos otros for su comida, algunos más por su gente amable y otros por su encantador clima.

Pero hablando de "street art", el graffiti tiene un sentimiento universal en la mayoría de los lugares. No digo que el graffiti es el mismo en todas partes. No, lo que estoy tratando de decir es que el graffiti en muchos lugares comparte un lenguage, sentimiento or mensaje international en muchas partes.

Pensaba en eso cuando tomaba estas fotos en la ciudad de Puebla en México. Este tipo de arte de la calle tiene algo en común con el de Los Angeles o Barcelona. Todos ellos comparten uno o mas elementos a pesar de estar tan lejos uno de los otros.

Leaves Collection

The truth is that I couldn't wait for too much longer to share with everyone this gift from my niece.

My sweet little niece surprised me with a beautiful collection of leaves. She told me that she made it so I could remember the family's garden while I am away.

This is the most enchanted present I have ever received.

Mi pequeña sobrina me sorprendió al regalarme esta colección de hojas que según sus propias palabras debo ver cuando me encuentro lejos de casa y asi recordar su jardín.

Éste es el regalo más encantador que he recibido hasta ahora.

It is Not a Moleskine

I know that it is hard to believe, but I am trying others sketchbooks. I have to be clear that I still love Moleskine's notebooks. However, it is always interesting to try something different.

The drawings are objects that I saw in a design exhibition in Mexico City in February.

The first object in the right is a silver and obsidian broach.

the red one is a broach too. It was made by Diego Rivera. It is a watercolor painting with some kind of stones around.

The drawing in the right is a lamp design Hector Aguillar.

Se que es dificil de creelo, pero no estoy usando un diario Moleskine. Solo para aclarar, me sigue encantado Moleskine, solo que pensé que sería buena idea probar algo nuevo.

Pages of my Lost Sketchbook

For a while, this little sketchbook was lost. Fortunately, I found it and I rediscovered my sketches from the beginning of the year. Now, I remember that I went to downtown Los Angeles and I draw the little church next to Olvera Street. The left page has the ticket from the Rothko exhibition at the MOMA.

I am really happy to have it back!

Perdido y Encontrado

Por algún tiempo este pequeño diario visual estuvo perdio. Afortunadamente, lo encontré y he redescubierto los dibujos que hice al principio del año. Ahora recuerdo que fui al centro de Los Angeles y dibuje la pequeña iglesia en la esquina de calle Olvera. En la página izquierda se puede ver el boleto de la exibición de Rothko en el MOMA -Museo de arte moderno-
