Me gustas cuando callas porque estás como ausente, 
y me oyes desde lejos, y mi voz no te toca. 
Parece que los ojos se te hubieran volado 
y parece que un beso te cerrara la boca. 

Como todas las cosas están llenas de mi alma 
emerges de las cosas, llena del alma mía. 
Mariposa de sueño, te pareces a mi alma, 
y te pareces a la palabra melancolía. 
 
Me gustas cuando callas y estás como distante. 
Y estás como quejándote, mariposa en arrullo. 
Y me oyes desde lejos, y mi voz no te alcanza: 
Déjame que me calle con el silencio tuyo. 
 
Déjame que te hable también con tu silencio 
claro como una lámpara, simple como un anillo. 
Eres como la noche, callada y constelada. 
Tu silencio es de estrella, tan lejano y sencillo. 

Me gustas cuando callas porque estás como ausente. 
Distante y dolorosa como si hubieras muerto. 
Una palabra entonces, una sonrisa bastan. 
Y estoy alegre, alegre de que no sea cierto.

Portfolio Design

When I started this blog my main goal was to practice and improve my English, but pretty soon my photos and artwork took over the whole blog. 

Today I want to add one more important thing to this blog: Design.

Let's start with my portfolio that you can see in www.belenislas.com under the design section.

To put together a portfolio is not an easy job. It takes a lot of planning, time and external opinions. In my case I took into consideration some important points while I was working on it:

1.-  Select your best and favorite work.

2.- Keep in mind that quality is better than quantity.

3.- Put your best work first and your favorite last.

4.- For the presentation it is important to consider:

*Hierarchy

*Organization

*Clean Design

*Cohesion

5.- The opinion of other people will give you perspective on your work. Share your work process and ask others' opinions.

6.- Put each of your pieces in context.

7.- Establish a theme for your whole portfolio.

And the most important advice:

8.- If you don't like your work nobody is going to like it either. Believe in yourself and your work.

Cuando empecé este blog hace año y medio mi propósito era practicar mi inglés. Pero muy pronto mis fotos y arte llenaron este espacio.

Hoy quiero incluir una cosa más a este blog: Diseño.

Empecemos con mi portafolio, que puedes ver en www.belenislas.com 

dentro de la sección "design".

Completar un portafolio no es un trabajo fácil. De hecho te toma mucho tiempo, planeación y muchas opiniones ajenas.

Cuando estaba trabajando en mi portafolio tomé en consideración los siguientes puntos como base:

1.- Selecciona el mejor y el favorito de tus trabajos.

2.- Siempre recuerda que calidad es mejor que cantidad.

3.- Coloca tu mejor trabajo en la primera página y tu favorito en la última.

4.- En la presentación considera:

• Jerarquía

• Organización

• Limpieza

• Cohesión

5.- Opiniones de personas ajenas a tu trabajo te darán perspectiva sobre lo que estás haciendo. Comparte tu trabajo con otros y pregunta por sus opiniones.

6.- Contextualiza tus piezas.

7.- Establece una temática para todo tu portafolio.

Y la recomendación más importante en la que puedo pensar:

8.- Si a ti no te gusta tu propio trabajo, nadie más lo encontrará atractivo. Cree en ti mismo y tu trabajo.

Mexico

I am back from my visit to Mexico. The reunion with my country, my culture, my family and friends is always wonderful.

The timing was perfect. After some rain and wind the city was clean and the view was incredible. I really love Mexico City.

This city is huge in all ways possible. I am talking about both the bad and good things. It is big in size, population, problems, pollution, traffic, and it is big too in culture, entertainment options, diversity, beauty, history. Mexico City is gigantic in all the senses of the word.

Estoy de regreso de mi visita a México. Como siempre fue increíble reencontrarme con mi país, mi cultura, mi familia y amigos.

Estuve por allá en el momento perfecto. Después de un poco de lluvia y viento la ciudad lucía limpia y la vista fue increíble. Realmente me encanta la ciudad de México.

Esa ciudad es enorme en todas las formas posibles y hablo de las buenas y malas cosas. Es enorme en tamaño, población, problemas, contaminación, tráfico y es grande también en cultura, entretenimiento, diversidad, belleza, historia, etc. La cuidad de México es gigantesco en toda la extensión de la palabra.

The part that I enjoy the most when I am in Mexico is to see my niece and nephew. They did some drawings. As you can see they enjoy drawing as much I do.

La parte que mas disfruté de mis visitas a México fue ver a mis sobrinos. Me hicieron algunos dibujos y como puedes ver, ellos disfrutan dibujar tanto como yo.

And in the flight back to Los Angeles I did a little drawing, I hope you all like it.

Y en el vuelo de regreso a Los Angeles hice un pequeño dibujo. Espero que les guste.
